552 feed problems. Recently purchased a Remington 552 speedmaster. First trip to the range was a disaster, bad jams every shot. Purchased action spring and carrier spring. Installed action spring before heading to the range yesterday and noticed someone had cut down the one in the gun. I've got a Remington speedmaster 552 that I'm curious about so any help would be appreciated. If I understand correctly the date code is on the left side of the barrel. The numbers are J D P 5. It has the 23.5 inch barrel. Don't even remember why I bought it just found it in the closet hiding in the corner. Gun is in very good overall condition showing only light use. Wood is solid with original finish left and just a few light use and handling marks on buttstock. Barrel is excellent with no marks.
